Reflection
This is the area that has produced the most concern due to the vast amount of information that is available. There is simply no way to consume it all, but it is a necessity for me to stay connected and aware of the current research being produced as well as have a general understanding of past works. This will require a continual effort to remain informed and well prepared. Through the process of being responsible for the production of work that will be presented to others (who are also endeavoring to remain on the cutting edge of the information) can be a daunting awareness. However, the pursuit of the knowledge to produce the work helps to instill confidence that I have prepared and am ready and able to be an active participant in the field of research.
I have learned that I can do the research work to be able to present information to others in manner that is beneficial to those in attendance. This has only been accomplished through the encouragement of my instructors who have been right where I am currently and have pressed forward and have been able to produce research that has indeed propelled the field forward. Staying up to date with research is a continual endeavor that is much needed. It is also an important need for people to participate and produce new research. I am not sure at what level I will be engaged in research but find it exciting to consider sitting with individuals and doing interviews that will be the data that could reveal, or at least shed light on, some technique that could possibly help to improve someone’s life.
An area of general concerns is the occasional thought of who do I think I am that my research or thoughts could help another or move an area of thought forward. Thankfully I generally have a very high self-esteem, but every once and a while negative thought sneak in and cause difficulties making progress. I think choosing the kind of people I am around who are not falsely positive but encouraging. People who I know desire the best out of me and my work and can share a negative because I know they are seeking to produce the same valuable, accurate, and enlightening information that I am desiring to be producing. I will work to be this person for others as well, which I hope will help to cultivate good and honorable relationships that promote both mine and their efforts towards success.
My desire is to live a life that is pleasing to God and that brings glory and honor to Him. I get my strength from being a Christian. The Holy Spirit is a force that is not fully understood but move and works in and through believers. My desire is that God leads me and my efforts to produce what is needed at the time and opens the doors needed and closes the doors that would be distraction. The more I have grown in my relationship with God and my desire to honor him the better I have become at not needing the spotlight and allows me to be better equipped to honor others when they have a personal victory. Loving God and loving each other is a recipe for success in my work and life.
